Chiles restaurants launch program to help guide dogs

The Chiles Restaurant Group, operator of the Sandbar on Anna Maria Island, the BeacHhouse in Bradenton Beach and the Mar Vista Dockside on Longboat Key, announced a new partnership with Southeastern Guide Dogs aimed at raising money for the Palmetto-based nonprofit.

Diners at the three restaurants will be presented with the opportunity to make a $1, $5 or $10 or other donation and have it added to their check. The goal of the Dollars4 GuideDogs program is to raise $15,000 to raise and sponsor three puppies at Southeastern Guide Dogs.

"Southeastern Guide Dogs is right in our own backyard, and so many of our guests love dogs," said Ed Chiles, owner, in a news release. "We're thrilled to be able to help this amazing charity and the important work they do in raising and training world-class guide dogs."

The public is invited to an official launch party for the program from 5:30 to 8 p.m. April 10 at the Sandbar, 100 Spring Ave., Anna Maria, where Southeastern Guide Dogs puppies will be on hand to greet guests. The event will take place in the Sandbar Restaurant Event and Wedding Pavilion adjacent to the restaurant. Light refreshments and a cash bar will be available.
