MANATEE -- A 29-year-old man was arrested after he allegedly tried to assault deputies holding him after they suspected him of leaving the scene of a crash, according to the Manatee Sheriff's Office.
Justin Lundholm was arrested at 12:28 p.m. Tuesday and charged with assaulting a law enforcement officer and resisting arrest, according to an arrest report.
Lundholm remains in custody at the Manatee County jail and is currently being held without bond.
Deputies responded to the location of a hit-and-run crash and were told by witnesses that the pick-up truck was seen up the road, according to the report. The truck, which had severe front-end damage, was reportedly located at Lena Road and State Road 64, and witnesses pointed out Lundholm as the driver that fled the scene.
When deputies identified themselves, Lundholm reportedly continued to try to walk past them, at which point they took control of his arms and he dropped himself to the ground.
Lundholm made several attempts to get away as deputies awaited the arrival of the Florida Highway Patrol, the report stated. With his left fist closed, Lundholm reportedly swung at one of the deputies, attempting to hit him in the groin.
After spotting witnesses near the roadway, Lundholm began shouting profanities at them and threatening them. He made several attempts to resist the deputies as they restrained him.
After a brief struggle with him, deputies were able to secure him in handcuffs and place in the patrol car.
