Race preparations were under way. Shoelaces were tightened. Calves and hamstrings were getting stretched. Some runners prepping for the sixth annual Robinson Preserve Twilight 5K got into their pre-race zone with skips, hops and squats.
Alvin Ducre had a different approach. Hands in the air, smile stretching across his face, Ducre's pre-race prep was all about having fun and spreading that vibe around liberally.
Smiles broke out all around Ducre as music drifted through the park.
Nobody had to wait for the exercise endorphins to kick in Friday. The happiness was already happening.
