Tandem thieves rob Manatee man of backpack

March 30, 2014

MANATEE — Two men worked in tandem to rob a 21-year-old man of an Xbox 360 and several games, according to a Manatee County Sheriff’s Office report.

The victim was sitting at a table at 6:42 p.m. Sunday at the 7-Eleven, 5640 14th St. W., with a backpack containing the Xbox and games.

A man wearing blue jeans and a blue short-sleeve shirt in his mid-20s with medium-length blond hair approached and pushed him over onto the table, according to the report.

The suspect than removed the backpack from the victim’s shoulder and ran. The suspect then threw the backpack to a balding man in his 50s with white hair wearing blue jeans with holes in them who fled on a rusty gray mountain bike with a gray sweater attached, the report states.

The older suspect biked north then east across 14th Street West. The younger suspect ran south crossing 57th Avenue West.

Deputies searched the area but the suspects were not found.
