How's this for a warm-and-fuzzy homecoming?

When Pastor Joe Connolly returned to Our Lady Queen of Martyrs in Whitfield last weekend after a long deserved vacation, here's the greeting he received from one parishioner before Saturday's 4 p.m. Mass:

"Welcome back, Father. Now keep it short."

• Uh, oh! Linda Braithwaite hit the Big 6-0! Bruce is keeping mum on that milestone.

• Last November Kelly Stilwell, the Bradenton housewife and blogger, was off to Hollywood for the premier of "Deliveryman" and "Thor: The Dark World." She was one of 24 national bloggers on an all-expenses paid press junket courtesy of Disney, Marvel & DreamWorks.

Come April 3-7, Kelly will cruising with Royal Caribbean along with 40 national bloggers on a five-day cruise to Cozumel. Nice.

• Merritt Island High School renamed its baseball facility after alum and Pirate skipper Clint Hurdle, now a Holmes Beach resident with wife Karla.

• Lincoln Memorial High School alumni are holding a commemorative brick drive for a Lincoln Memorial Alumni Legacy Walk at Lincoln Middle School.

Proceeds will also go to the middle school.

Deadline for brick purchase is April 11.

The celebration is May 23.

• Petty Officer Francis A.J. Faucher is a damage controlman 1st class aboard the guided missile cruiser USS Philippine Sea. The 2006 Manatee grad has been in the Navy seven years. His proud parents are David Faucher and Cindy Ackerman.

• Bradenton author Gail Hedrick's "Something Stinks!" was selected 2014 Outstanding Science Trade Book for K-12 by the National Science Teachers Association and the Children's Book Council. The book, which deals with environmental issues, is available from Amazon or www.tumblehomelearning.com.
