Phi Beta Psi Sorority "Auction for a Cure": If you can bake, sew it, make it, grow it, bring in your creation and join the bidding fun to raise money for cancer research at Phi Beta Psi Sorority's "Auction for a Cure" beginning with a preview 6-6:45 p.m. and auction at 7 p.m. March 27 at Trinity United Methodist Church, 3200 Manatee Ave. W., Bradenton. Pique Nique sur la Baie and fashion show: New College of Florida will host its yearly fundraiser "Pique Nique sur la Baie," and a fashion show 11 a.m. April 2 at New College Bayfront, Sarasota, featuring a fashion show by The Met and a live auction. Girls Inc. 26th annual Celebration Luncheon: The Girls Inc. 26th annual Celebration Luncheon will be 10:30 a.m. April 3 at the Ritz Carlton, 1111 Ritz Carlton Drive, Sarasota, celebrating "Girl of the Year" and honoring various outstanding individuals for their contributions to the community and their superlative personal and professional achievements. Annual Family Fun Walk and Fun Festival: Help raise awareness and funds for homeless children and participate in Turning Points' "Walk A Mile In Their Shoes," a one mile beach walk 5:30 p.m. April 5 at Coquina Beach, Bradenton, followed by fun activities for families including an exciting sand castle competition, bounce house, face painting, great food and music. Inaugural Lupus Quarter Auction "Walk to end Lupus": The Velvet Manna Victors will host their inaugural Lupus Quarter Auction "Walk to end Lupus" 6 p.m. April 5 at West Manatee Fire Station 3, 205 Second St. N., Bradenton Beach. Doors will open at 5:15 p.m. Bring rolls of quarters to bid for the auction and for prize drawings. Attendees are encouraged to wear purple. Food will be available for purchase. BYOB. Association of Fundraising Professionals Southwest Florida Chapter's "Gems of Philanthropy Luncheon": Giving Matters, an initiative of the Association of Fundraising Professionals Southwest Florida Chapter will host its annual "Gems of Philanthropy Luncheon" 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. April 8 at Michael's on East, 1212 East Ave., Sarasota. Evening of Hope: The Salvation Army of Manatee County will host its "Evening of Hope" dinner 6:30-9:30 p.m. April 10 at the Powel Crosley Estate, 8374 N. Tamiami Trail, Sarasota. Special guest Nik Wallenda will share insights on his amazing career, his faith, family and how he balances it all. There will be live entertainment and a dynamic "Mocktail" hour. Tickets: $100. Eighth annual Gulf Shore Animal League Scavenger Hunt: Organize a team of up to five people and participate in the eighth annual Gulf Shore Animal League's Scavenger Hunt 10 a.m.-4 p.m. April 12 beginning and ending at Palma Sola Park Pavilion, 7815 40th Ave. W., Bradenton. The day will feature a Gulf Shore Animal League Olympics and other fun park activities and many competitions including Kitty Kat Karaoke, Most Creative Costumes, and Best Team Spirit. The 21st annual Tropical Nights celebration: Meals on Wheels PLUS of Manatee will host its 21st annual Tropical Nights celebration 6-11 p.m. April 12 at the Renaissance on 9th, 1816 Ninth St. W., Bradenton. The "Vegas Lights" themed event will feature elaborate food displays, specialty drinks, live entertainments, casino-style games, interactive photo shoots, a "Chill Lounge" tribute to the posh Las Vegas nightclub scene, a silent auction and prize drawings. "An Island Affaire -- Just Another Day in Paradise": The Anna Maria Island Community Center will host its annual fundraiser "An Island Affaire -- Just Another Day in Paradise," beginning with a pre-affaire VIP party at 5 p.m. followed by a champagne reception and dinner at 6 p.m. April 12 at 407 Magnolia Ave., Anna Maria. Pinwheel 5K Run: The traditional Elite Fitness Challenge 5K Pinwheel Run will begin with registration 7 a.m. followed by the 8:30 a.m. Kids Dashes, 8:45 a.m. Kids Fitness Challenge, the 9:30 a.m. 5K Pinwheel Run, the 9:35 a.m. One-mile Fitness Run/Walk and the 10 a.m. 5K Elite Fitness Challenge at Nathan Benderson Park at 2500 N. Third annual Barefoot Sunday: Leave your shoes for a needy soul and be a part of doing a great good for an effort to provide shoes, sandals, work boots, children's shoes, new or gently worn to any of the three services 7:30 a.m., 9 a.m. or 11 a.m. April 27 at Christ Episcopal Church's third annual Barefoot Sunday at 4030 Manatee Ave. W., Bradenton.
