Traffic concerns about Manatee County development plan

March 27, 2014

It is good that Whiting Preston wants to hear the concerns of homeowners and businesses surrounding his development. But going to the website was disappointing since it only asks for answers to his questions.

Questions I would like answers to are:

1. What will happen to our two east-west arteries, Cortez Road and Manatee Avenue, that are already overloaded with traffic?

2. What will another 6,500 homes do to this traffic?

3. What will the loss of agricultural jobs do to the county's economy?

A planned community sounds great, but it cannot be self-sustaining. Those who buy in the development will not be those who can work there, which adds more traffic.

What a lasting legacy to this area it would be if Mr. Preston, Mr. Carlos Beruff and IMG have a third east-west artery and bridge to the beaches installed for all this future growth.
