Manatee-Sarasota team effort can't find home invaders

March 26, 2014

SARASOTA -- The Manatee County Sheriff’s Office helicopter and Sarasota County Sheriff's Office detectives and canine units were unable to find as many as four suspects in a home-invasion robbery about 9 p.m. Wednesday in the 2200 block of Seward Drive, Sarasota

Initial reports indicate the suspects were all about 5-foot-6, dressed in all black and wearing masks, carrying handguns.

The primary victim came home in his truck when suspects reportedly approached him from all different directions. He was ordered at gunpoint to provide them with money, then forced inside his residence by the suspects.

Once the suspects got an undisclosed amount of money they left the area on foot from the residence in a southerly direction. As units were responding, the subjects were reportedly hiding in shrubbery near Booker Middle School. This area was searched unsuccessfully with canine and the helicopter

The investigation continues.
