Donovan earns extension, raise from Florida

Gainesville, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - Florida head men's basketball coach Billy Donovan has signed a three-year contract extension to remain with the Gators program.

Donovan, 49, will now be with Florida through the 2018-19 season and earn an average of $3.7 million per season, according to the Gainesville Sun.

The Gators are 34-2 this season and have advanced to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament where they will face UCLA on Thursday. Florida entered the tournament as the number one seed overall and the top seed in the South Region.

Donovan's team was the first in SEC history to finish with a perfect 18-0 record. They then blasted through the SEC Tournament.

Donovan owns a 449-168 record during his 18-year tenure at Florida, which also includes two national championships (2006 and 2007).
