UPCOMING EVENTS

April 6-7: Team registrations are being accepted for the 2014 Lax Max Florida Lacrosse Tournament being held at Lakewood Ranch during the weekend of April 6-7. Lax Max is designed for recreation travel and town team programs within the state of Florida. The event offers a choice of either a one-day, three-game jamboree or a two-day tournament. Lax Max Florida features male and female round-robin competitions, with A, B and C recreation travel competition levels for the dual age groupings of U-10 through U-18. This is a non club level event. Registration information is available at the Lax Max Florida web page located under the lacrosse section at usamateursports.com. April 12, 19: The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotillas 81 and 85 will offer boating safety courses on April 12 and 19 at G.T. Bray park, 5801 33rd Ave. Drive W. The course will run from 8 a.m.-12:30 p.m. each day. The cost is $35 per person or $55 per couple sharing a book. Participants will learn about kinds of boats, boating laws, safety equipment, navigation, trailering, storing, boating emergencies and safety issues. The course prepares participants for the Florida Safe Boater's Card. Boat operators born after Jan. 1, 1988, must have the card to operate a motorboat with 10 or more horsepower.
