Anna Maria man arrested after milk shake assault

March 24, 2014

ANNA MARIA — Anna Maria Island resident Monte Veon, 71, decided to make a milk shake at 11:45 p.m. Saturday before he went to bed. He ended up in jail for it.

A family member, seeing Veon place the items for the shake on the counter of his home in the 200 block of Gladiolus Street, Anna Maria, tried to prevent Veon from making the confection, according to a Manatee County Sheriff’s Office report.

The family member reportedly tried to block the 6-foot-1, 240-pound Veon from accessing the refrigerator.

Veon reportedly pushed the family member out of the way and proceeded to make a milk shake while the family member called the sheriff’s office.

Veon was charged with simply battery for pushing the family member. He remained in the Manatee County jail Monday night subject to a $500 bond.
