Bradenton man beaten, backpack stolen

BRADENTON — A homeless man reportedly was hit in the ribs with a baseball bat while he sat near the water tower at G.T. Bray Park.

The incident, according to the Bradenton Police Department, occurred at 10:50 a.m. Sunday at 5501 33rd Ave. Dr. W., Bradenton.

The man walked to Bradenton Fire Department’s Station No. 3 where he told firefighters unidentified suspects also took his backpack.

The victim was taken to Blake Hospital where he reportedly refused medical treatment. No suspects have been located.
