MANATEE — A Bradenton Police Department officer had to be treated at a hospital after a suspect reportedly crushed his hand with his knee.

The incident occurred at 12:23 a.m. Sunday in the 200 block of 23rd Street East, according to a police report.

The officer had responded to a domestic battery call and the suspect was handcuffed in the back of his patrol car when the officer reportedly attempted to remove property from him.

The suspect’s knee reportedly wedged the officer’s hand on the partition in the rear of the patrol car, causing swelling.
