Tyler Bench allowed just one hit over six innings, and Hunter Leonard finished up with a 1-2-3 frame as the host Palmetto baseball team defeated Lakewood Ranch 5-0 on Friday in Class 7A-District 10 play.

Bench struck out seven and walked three. The Mustangs' lone hit came from Jack Dunn in the third inning.

Jared Taylor and Leonard each went 2-for-3 with a solo home run for the Tigers (8-7, 2-6). Leonard drove in two runs. Jake Mersch and Tomas Martinez each had two hits.

Lakewood Ranch is 2-6 in district play.

BAYSHORE 12, MANATEE HEAT 0 (5) -- Michael Rupp, Daniel Schroeder, Jerad Paparella and Justin Lakin combined on a one-hitter to lead the host Bruins to their sixth straight victory.

Chase Richardson went 2-for-2 with a pair of RBIs for Bayshore (8-7). Mike Grable had a hit and an RBI, and Avis Peralta had a hit.

BRADENTON CHRISTIAN 10, NORTH PORT IMAGINE  0 (6) -- Cameron Rogers and David Hinkel combined for a one-hit shutout and ten strikeouts as the host Panthers polished off the Sharks in a district match.

Hinkle Lance Perkins and Peyton Thomas each had two hits apiece for Bradenton Christian (10-5, 5-2).

North Port Imagine fell to 3-12, and still have yet to win a district game (0-5).

The Panthers will host Silo High School, from Oklahoma, on Saturday at 4 p.m. Silo won the Oklahoma state title last season.
