MANATEE -- Deputies conducting surveillance arrested a man they saw break into a car parked at the Ellenton Premium Outlets and take a handbag, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

The burglary happened about 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the outlet mall, 5461 Factory Outlets Blvd.

Before Christian Castillo, 27, was arrested, deputies watched as he "began looking into vehicles while acting like he was talking on his cell phone," a news release states.

When he saw the victim's car, Castillo went back to his car and grabbed a tool he used to break out the passenger's side window. He reached inside and took a handbag, according to the report.

Castillo faces six counts each of vehicle burglary and possession of burglary tools. He is being held at the Manatee County jail on bonds totaling $18,000.

Deputies stopped and arrested Castillo as he tried to drive out of the parking lot, according to the report.
