MANATEE -- A man was arrested Thursday morning after he kidnapped a woman and drove her to a Palmetto elementary school, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

About 11:35 a.m., Santos Resendiz went to the The Oaks at Ellenton apartments, 3420 16th St. E., Ellenton, to exchange children with the woman, who has a permanent injunction barring Resendiz from coming with 500 feet of her, according to a news release.

The couple got into an argument, with Resendiz wanting the woman to leave with him.

"Following loading up the kids, she declined to accompany them. Resendiz grabbed her by the hair and arm, forcing her into his truck," the report states.

The woman call for a witness to call 911, "as Resendiz abducted her in his truck," the report states.

"Indications were that the suspect was heading to a local school. Blackburn Elementary was contacted and put on lock-down as patrol was en route," the report states.

Patrol local Resendeiz as he, the woman and four children were pulling out of the school, 3904 17th St., Palmetto.

Resendiz was cut off and arrested without incident, according to the sheriff's office. The school was then released from lock-down.

The woman suffered minor injuries in the incident.

Resendiz is charged with false imprisonment, domestic aggravated battery and violating a domestic violence injunction. He is being held without bond at the Manatee County jail.
