MANATEE -- Deputies are looking for a 41-year-old man after he struck another man and a woman with whom he has a child, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

About 1:07 a.m. Thursday, the man and the woman went to a residence in the 1000 block of 35th Avenue East to collect personal items, according to a news release.

Upon arrival, they were confronted by the suspect.

The suspect began striking the woman about the face and head. The man got out of his truck to confront the suspect, but he was struck in the head by a blunt object, causing a cut, according to the report.

The male victim then got a baseball bat out of his truck, and the suspect pulled a gun from his pocket.

The victim said the suspect fired the gun in his direction, and once more as he was leaving in his truck.

"It should be noted that law enforcement found no signs that a gun had been fire," the report states.

The suspect was not located.
