UNIVERSITY PARK -- Trendy female clothing and decor store Anthropologie is the latest retailer coming to the Mall at University Town Center.

The Wayne, Pa., company filed for building permits Tuesday with plans to build a 9,354-square-foot store, according to Sarasota County Planning & Development Services.

Construction will be an estimated $653,000 for the store, according to the permit application.

Anthropologie is celebrating its 20th year and has 175 stores in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom and also supplies a popular catalog. The Sarasota location would be the company's third Florida store. Anthropologie has shops in Tampa's Old Hyde Park Village and Mall at Millenia in Orlando.

The store will be part of more than 100 stores in the 880,000-square-foot mall being developed by Taubman Centers of Michigan and University Park's Benderson Development Co. The mall is scheduled to open Oct. 16 on the corner of Cattlemen Road and University Parkway featuring the Apple Store, Macy's, Dillard's, Saks Fifth Avenue, Capital Grille, Cheesecake Factory and more.
