Weather alert: Sunshine, strong winds expected Tuesday in Bradenton

MANATEE -- Monday's thunderstorms in Bradenton will be replaced Tuesday by mostly sunny skies -- and strong, according to the National Weather Service.

There is Tuesday a 30 percent chance of scattered showers before 8 a.m. Afterwards, skies should be mostly sunny, with a high near 73 and northwesterly winds of 10 to 20 mph and gusts of up to 26 mph.

Strong offshore winds mean there is an elevated risk of rip currents off local beaches through Tuesday afternoon, according to the Weather Service. A high surf advisory is in effect until 5 p.m.

Tuesday night, skies should be mostly clear, with a low near 58 and northwesterly winds of 5 to 7 mph becoming calm.
