Manatee County GOP will hear Fair Tax bill talk

BRADENTON -- The Republican Party of Manatee County will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, March 24, at the Bradenton Women's Club, 1705 Manatee Ave. W., Bradenton.

Former Manatee County Commissioner Bob Fowinkle will discuss the Fair Tax bill to replace the federal tax code, dollar for dollar with a progressive national sales tax (House Resolution 25/Senate Bill 122).

SCF spring open house set April 1 in Bradenton

BRADENTON -- High school students, families and others interested in higher education wcan learn about programs and services at State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota open house from 4-6 p.m. Tuesday, April 1, at SCF Bradenton, 5840 26th St. W., building 14.

Students and parents can find out about affordable options and take campus tours, learn about degree programs, academic departments, financial aid and how to enroll at SCF. Students also will learn about the transition to college and how to access critical campus resources.

SCF offers degrees with courses available at SCF campuses and online for students who intend to begin their careers immediately after graduation, transfer to university programs or continue at SCF in select baccalaureate programs.

Manatee Avenue West work set for Tuesday-Wednesday

BRADENTON -- Steve Sibert, engineering specialist, said 13th Street West from Manatee Avenue West to Fourth Avenue West will be closed from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday for work on a city water line.
