Eddie Tripp, unarmed burglary to an occupied dwelling, $7,500 bond

— A woman called 911 while hiding in her closet after hearing someone trying to break into her apartment early Saturday morning, the Manatee County Sheriff's Office reports.

The woman heard someone trying to open the front door of her apartment in the 1600 block of 55th Avenue Circle East around 2:30 a.m., according to the report.

She then heard the person climbing up onto her second-floor balcony and trying to open her sliding glass door, so she called 911 and hid in the closet, the report states.

Deputies arrived to find Eddie Tripp, 39, hiding on the second-floor balcony, authorities said. Tripp was taken into custody without incident.

The victim gave a sworn affidavit that Tripp did not have permission to be at the residence or on the balcony, according to the report.

Tripp is charged with unarmed burglary to an occupied dwelling and was being held in Manatee County jail on $7,500 bond, according to the sheriff's website.
