Nick Runde threw a four-hitter, and Jake Westberry homered Friday night as the Saint Stephen's baseball team collected a 6-4 victory over host St. Petersburg Keswick Christian in a non-district contest.

Runde struck out six and walked four, allowing two earned runs.

Westberry went 2-for-2 and drove in three runs. Joe Schneider went 2-for-3, and Sam O'Dell had an RBI for the Falcons (7-6).

BAYSHORE 9, SOUTHEAST 5 -- The visiting Bruins (5-7) were trailing 5-4 going into the top of the seventh, when they scored five runs for the victory and a three-game win streak. The rally was sparked by Jared Paparella's two-run double. Paparella went 2-for-3 with three RBIs and two doubles.

The Bruins' Derek Paparella went 1-for-3 but his hit was a two-run homer. Teammate Justin Lakin added two big hits, including a double. Daniel Schroeder picked up the win. He went six innings and scattered six hits and a walk, while striking out nine.

OUT-OF-DOOR ACADEMY 5, CARDINAL MOONEY 2 -- Austin Hoppe pitched a complete game for the Thunder, and Jake Romine knocked a bases-loaded double to drive in the tying and go-ahead runs in the fifth inning as ODA defeated the Cougars in a Class 3A-District 10 game.

Park Phillips added a double for the Thunder (6-3, 2-1).

Cardinal Mooney's Jake Bonynge lasted five innings, allowing five runs on two hits and two walks while striking out eight. Christian Maglich had an RBI.

BRADEN RIVER 4, MANATEE 1 -- Cole Pencosky tossed a complete game and helped his own cause at the plate as the Pirates defeated the Hurricanes.

Pencosky allowed five hits and one earned run while striking out two. He also went 2-for-3 at the dish with an RBI for Braden River (7-5).

Daren Ortiz added an RBI and two runs for the Pirates.

Juco baseball

STATE COLLEGE OF FLORIDA 5, ST. PETERSBURG COLLEGE 3 -- Reggie McClain went eight innings, allowing two earned runs and 10 hits, to lead the visiting Manatees to a Suncoast Conference triumph.

McClain struck out seven and walked none. Manatee product Trevor Beeman homered and had two hits, Justin Garcia had three hits, and Alex Pinero collected a pair of hits for SCF (17-8, 4-3).

Softball

SOUTHEAST 4, GULFPORT BOCA CIEGA 3 -- Winning pitcher Becca Boesen and Emma Rissman drove in runs during a two-run fifth inning that gave the host Seminoles the lead for good in a Class 5A-District 10 victory.

Boesen allowed no earned runs and six hits in a complete game. She struck out 13 and walked one. At the plate, she had two doubles.

Rissman went 2-for-3, and Megan Stevens was 2-for-4 for Southeast (6-6, 2-3). Emma Bartges had a double and an RBI.
