Braden River reliever Jordan Guerrero came on to halt a Lakewood Ranch rally, stranding the tying run on third base, as the Pirates sneaked past their visiting rivals 4-3 on Tuesday in Class 7A-District 10 action.

Starter Eric Kimsey got the win. He allowed one earned run and eight hits in 6 1/3 innings of work.

Derrick Cozzette had two hits and two RBIs, and Daren Ortiz doubled and knocked in a run for Braden River (6-4, 2-3).

Lakewood Ranch got two hits from Cameron Pearcey.

MANATEE 9, PORT CHARLOTTE 8 -- Max Moneuse went 2-for-4 with two RBIS as the visiting Hurricanes and knocked in the go-ahead run in the sixth inning as Manatee (6-3) tripped up the Pirates.

P.J. Reed picked up the win with 2 2/3 innings of one-run relief. He struck out four.

Jake Dominick, Khalid Cox and Barion Bailey each had two RBIs for Manatee.

OUT-OF-DOOR ACADEMY 14, SOUTHEAST 4 -- Najee Rhodes drove in two of the Thunder's runs at home to defeat the Seminoles.

Rhodes had two doubles, and Max Monroe added three hits and two RBIs for ODA (5-3).

Elijah Savage was 2-for-2 with a triple and an RBI for Southeast.

BRADENTON CHRISTIAN 11, SAINT STEPHEN'S 5 -- Starting pitcher Hunter McGarry got the victory with five strong innings of work and keyed a seven-run sixth inning with a home run as the visiting Panthers rolled the Falcons in Class 3A-District 10 play.

McGarry allowed two earned runs and four hits while striking out four.

BCS (8-4, 4-1) trailed 2-1 entering the sixth. McGarry hit the first home run out of the new Moore Athletic Complex at Turner Fields facility. Peyton Thomas hit an RBI triple, and Jake Lister had a two-run single in the inning.

Saint Stephen's (6-5, 1-4) got three hits from Andrew Csubak.

Softball

PALMETTO 14, MANATEE 0 -- Auria Mounts fired a one-hitter, and Jordan Whitaker went 3-for-4 with three RBIs to lift the Tigers past the host Hurricanes.

Emilie Wingate went 4-for-4 with two RBIs, Jada Massey ripped a three-run triple, Sabria Bruton had three hits, and Kyria Holcomb had two hits for Palmetto (9-3).

BRADEN RIVER 4, LAKEWOOD RANCH 1 -- Lexi Phelps shut down the rival Mustangs, leading the Pirates (5-6, 4-2 Class 7A-District 10) to a big win on the road.

Sarah Crawford led the offense, going 3-for-3, and Kinsey Goelz had two hits. Kenya Yancy added two RBIs.

JV -- Lacey Brassfield doubled, tripled and knocked in four runs as visiting Palmetto (8-6) defeated Manatee 13-3 in four innings. Breanna Fox got the win in relief, and Kate Flinn had three hits, and Kaitlyn Ripley and Bevyn Ward had two apiece.

Boys tennis

LAKEWOOD RANCH 7, MANATEE 0 -- The host Mustangs (7-2) swept past the Hurricanes (6-3) led by double wins from Titus Storm, Jacques Swanepoel, Richie Zhang and Kyle Tatulla. Balwart Singh contributed a singles victory to round out the scoring.

OUT-OF-DOOR ACADEMY 7, ST. PETERSBURG ADMIRAL FARRAGUT 0 -- Vaughn Garcia, Jose Juncosa, Matt Jones, Janum Trivedi and Jon Eichenbaum won singles matches for for the visiting Thunder.

Garcia and Jones teamed up for a win at No. 1 doubles, and Trivedi and Juncosa got the victory at No. 2 doubles.

Girls tennis

MANATEE 5, LAKEWOOD RANCH 2 -- Carolina Montes and Chloe Conboy each won a singles match, then they teamed up for a doubles win as the visiting Hurricanes (7-2) got past the Mustangs (3-5).

Katelinn Wurm and Noell Niemann also won singles matches for Manatee.

Lakewood Ranch got a singles win from No. 1 singles player Ashley Bongart and the top doubles team of Bongart and Selena Gomez.

BAYSHORE 5, SOUTHEAST 2 -- Ava Schultz and Cailin Finnegan both won singles matches, then teamed up to take a doubles victory as the visiting Bruins defeated the Seminoles 5-2.

Haley Donahue also won a singles match for Bayshore. She then paired up with Cailei Meluch for a doubles win.

Daria Muklewicz and Hailey Williams both had singles victories for Southeast.

BRADEN RIVER 6, PALMETTO 1 -- Daniella Ojeda and Natalie Marshall led the charge for the Pirates, winning their singles matchups and then doubling for another win as Braden River defeated the host Tigers, 6-1.

Jourdan McKinnis and Maggie Zanders teamed up for Palmetto's (7-4) only win.

Tori Burnhardt, Julia Schwartz and Larissa Labolt added singles wins for the Pirates.
