March 12, 2014

BRADENTON -- A 21-year-old man was arrested on a burglary charge after he got into an argument with his uncle and fired several rounds from an "air soft" gun, according to Bradenton police.

About 3 p.m. Tuesday, officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 2000 block of 12th Street West. They learned that a suspect, Devontay Whipper, had fled the area, according to a report.

An investigation determined that Whipper had been in an argument with his uncle, and during the argument fired several times from an "air soft" gun.

Whipper broke into a garage in the 800 block of 19th Avenue West, where officers found him hiding, police said.

The air soft gun was not located.

Whipper was charged with burglary. He was released from the Manatee County jail after posting a $1,500 bond.
