Sarasota police investigate death of Palmetto man as a homicide

SARASOTA -- Sarasota police are investigating the death of a 23-year-old Palmetto man found dead on the side of a road as a homicide.

About 10:30 p.m. Monday, officers responded to a report of a body lying on the side of the road in the 3200 block of Orange Avenue. The body was found on the east side of the road on the curb of the northbound lane of Orange Avenue, according to a police news release.

The victim was identified as Carlton Parhm, of Palmetto.

"The case is still under investigation but being investigated as a homicide," police said. "No other information is being released at this time."
