Coffee chain's shop is slated near University Walk shopping center

UNIVERSITY PARK -- Another Starbucks is slated to join the slew of sister locations off of University Parkway.

The coffee shop chain is looking to build a new store with a drive-thru at 3604 84th Ave. Circle East near the University Walk shopping center, according to plans filed with Manatee County.

Michigan-based Kamco Properties LLC wants to build the store, which will sit less than a mile away from another location at University Parkway and Tuttle Avenue. The new coffee shop will serve as one of four Starbucks along the road.

The 2,000-square-foot, free-standing store will sit on a 1-acre parcel and will include 31 parking spaces, according to records.

Ashley Israel, owner of Kamco Properties LLC, confirmed that the store, poised to open around April 2015, will have indoor and outdoor seating and a drive-thru. A Starbucks spokesperson could not be reached for comment Monday.

Kamco Properties has resubmitted plans to the county for a second round of review. The project should not have any problem getting approved, said county planner Robert Wenzel.

Nearby Starbucks locations include 2805 University Parkway, 5485 University Parkway and inside Target at 101 North Cattlemen Road just off of University. It's unclear whether one of these Starbucks locations will move to the new location on 84th Avenue Circle East. Israel did not have additional information about the store and directed questions to a Starbucks spokesperson.
