Weather alert: Cold front heading towards Bradenton, Tampa Bay

March 10, 2014

The nice weather the region has been enjoying will continue today, but spring isn't here yet.

Bay News 9 meteorologist Josh Liinker says a cold front will bring thunderstorms Wednesday and much cooler temperatures Thursday and Friday mornings.

In fact, the lows Friday morning will be in the mid 40s near Tampa Bay and lower in the north and inland areas.

"A strong cold front will be on the way for Wednesday," Linker said. "Out in front of it, we're going to see some storms, and some of those could be pretty heavy, especially from Tampa Bay northward. Behind the front, it's going to get kind of chilly for a couple of days."

The next couple of days will be nice, though. Monday will be mostly sunny, with highs in the mid 70s, and Tuesday will be partly cloudy with highs of around 77 degrees.

Spring officially arrives Thursday, March 20.
