Robert Young and Jordan J. Riccardi have joined the law firm of Icard, Merrill, Cullis, Timm, Furen & Ginsburg P.A. as associate attorneys. Riccardi was named an associate attorney at Icard Merrill after serving as a law clerk to firm member Todd Kaplan. Based in the Lakewood Ranch office, Riccardi has concentrated his practice on estate planning, estate and trust administration, business law and BP-Oil Deepwater Horizon economic settlements. He earned his juris doctor from Ave Maria School of Law in Naples. His previous experience includes internships with the corporate counsel for Chico's Inc. and the Tampa Division of the U.S. Federal District Court. Young joined Icard Merrill in February. He has focused his practice in family law and will be located in the downtown Sarasota office. Before joining the firm, he worked as a law clerk and pro bono attorney for Legal Aid of Manasota. Young received his juris doctor from the University of Illinois College of Law, where he graduated cum laude with a pro bono notation for public service.

Nolan Towner has joined SouthTech as a systems support specialist. Towner will support SouthTech's Network Operations Center, delivering PowerView Managed IT monitoring and support services for clients. Born and raised in Florida, Towner worked in the animatronics fabrication/robotics industry and created animated characters used in many theme parks and movies. For the past three years, he has been a computer technician and taught classes on the use of Microsoft products.

Family nurse practitioner Tara Cocco, ARNP, joined Weiss Pediatric Care last month.

A registered nurse with 15 years of experience, Cocco completed her master's degree and certification as a family nurse practitioner in December. Previously, she spent more than 10 years as a critical care nurse in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit

at All Children's Hospital in St. Petersburg, and two years as a labor & delivery nurse at Trident Medical Center in Charleston, South Carolina. Cocco works under the medical direction of Dr. Weiss, and in conjunction with his care team, to provide preventative, diagnostic and treatment services, as well as health education and support for their families.

Fred Gibson has joined RE/MAX Platinum Realty as a broker-associate in the downtown Sarasota office. He specializes in residential and commercial real estate. A life-long real estate professional, Gibson most recently served with RE/MAX Alliance Group for 10 years. He is a native of Iowa. A Florida resident since 1983, he enjoys golfing, fishing and traveling.

Debra Jacobs, president and CEO of The Patterson Foundation, spoke on a four-person panel of foundation leaders from across the country March 6 during a Congressional Philanthropy Caucus briefing in Washington, D.C. The panel was part of the program Understanding the Role of American Philanthropy, an initiative of the Council on Foundations to increase awareness of the many roles of American philanthropy in communities across the country.
