FL Legislature correcting oversight on lack of district residency

From the This Can’t Be True Department: Florida currently doesn’t require state lawmakers to live in the district they represent. Really? Truly.

That discordant discovery about this hole in state law came last year when a powerful Republican senator suspected some Democrats were violating this pillar of democracy.

So this week, a rule change passed unanimously in both chambers of the Legislature, requiring proof of residency in one form or another. A shocking oversight is being corrected.
