Recap: Portland State vs. Weber State

Portland, OR ( - DaShaun Wiggins netted a game-high 20 points off the bench, as the Portland State Vikings held off the Weber State Wildcats, 66-59, in a Big Sky Conference bout at the Stott Center.

Wiggins connected on all 10 of his free-throw attempts for PSU (15-13, 10-9 Big Sky), which has won four of five. Gary Winston scored 18 points for the hosts, while Kyle Richardson posted 13 points and eight rebounds.

For Weber State (16-11, 13-6), losers of two straight, Davion Berry poured in 17 points, Kyle Tresnak had 11 points and Joel Bolomboy collected 10 rebounds.

PSU shot 45.8 percent from the field in the first half while holding Weber State to a meager 22.7 percent shooting, as it took a 29-17 lead into intermission.

Weber State managed to improve its field goal shooting to 52 percent in the second stanza and was even able to tie the game on several occasions, but with the score knotted up at 43 with under six minutes remaining, the Vikings pulled away thanks to a 12-1 surge.

Portland State managed to overcome a poor 2-of-13 showing from 3-point range by forcing Weber State into 18 turnovers.
