Man robbed of morphine pills in Bradenton

March 6, 2014

MANATEE -- Two gunmen early Thursday robbed another man of morphine pills at a Bradenton apartment complex, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

About 2:15 a.m. at the Avalon Park apartments, 3506 14th St. W., the victim was in an apartment with his 14-month-old grandchild while his son and his girlfriend were in the bathroom taking a shower, according to a news release.

When the victim heard a slight knock at the door, he opened it to find two men, one of whom held a gun to his head.

"The suspects then pushed their way into the room and began going through everything inside," the report states.

They tried to go into the bathroom, but the younger man kept pulling the door closed, deputies said.

The suspect took the pills from the older man and fled the scene, according to the sheriff's office.

No description of the suspects was included in the report.
