AMI Dem Club will hear from dolphin expert
BRADENTON -- The Anna Maria Island Democratic Club will meet at 11:45 a.m. March 17 for lunch at the Mannatees Sports Grill, 7423 Manatee Ave. W., Bradenton.

Dr. Randall Wells will discuss "Amazing Dolphin Research, Conservation, and You." Wells heads the renowned Sarasota Dolphin Research Program, the world's longest-running study of wild dolphins, in a collaborative effort with Mote Marine Laboratory and the Chicago Zoological Society.
He holds degrees in zoology and biology from the University of South Florida, University of Florida, and University of California, Santa Cruz, and is the author or co-author of more than 100 books and journal articles on marine mammals.

Chef Chasky to offer Aging in Paradise cooking class
LONGBOAT KEY -- The Aging in Paradise Resource Center is offering a nutritional cooking class by Celebrity Chef Craig Chasky, who will prepare a full course meal for the class from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, March 28.
Cost is $15 per person. Chasky, who has appeared on the Food Network and "Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous," focuses on natural foods.
The meal will consist of Italian salad, pasta primavera, Italian zuppe inglesia (bread pudding) plus non-alcoholic drinks.

Supervisor of Elections Bennett to speak to GOP
BRADENTON -- The East Manatee Republican Club will meet at the Peridia Golf and Country Club, 4950 Peridia Blvd., Bradenton, at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, March 13. Lunch costs $16.
Guest speaker will be Manatee Supervisor of Elections Michael Bennett on his decision to close some voter precincts. Q & A will follow.
The possibility of sending in government supervisors to newsrooms as a proposed takeover of our news media by the federal government will also be discussed.
