Cardinal Mooney running back Demardre Patterson signs a letter of intent Wednesday to attend North Georgia Tech, a prep school. Patterson, who rushed for more than 1,400 yards and score 18 touchdowns, is verbally committed to attend Kennesaw State after his year at prep school. Evin Lynch fired a three-hit shutout at the University of Tampa junior varsity Wednesday as the State College of Florida baseball team improved to 14-4 with a 7-0 victory at Robert C. Wynn Field.

Lynch struck out 10 and walked three. Scott Williams went 4-for-5 at the plate, and Sean Trent was 3-for-5 with two RBIs. Justin Garcia and Lakewood Ranch product Tyler Dauphinee each had two hits and an RBI.

Prep baseball

INSPIRATION ACADEMY 3, SAINT STEPHEN'S 0 -- Payton Jenkins threw a two-hit shutout and provided the only offense he needed with a second-inning solo home run as the host Lions defeated the Falcons.

Jenkins struck out eight and walked one. Thomas Kelly also had a hit and an RBI for Inspiration Academy (10-2).

Saint Stephen's fell to 5-3 despite a strong pitching performance from Nick Runde. He allowed three earned runs and seven hits, while striking out four, in a route-going performance.

Boys tennis

SAINT STEPHEN'S 5, OUT-OF-DOOR ACADEMY 2 -- Top singles players Zach Bessette and Brian Berdusco won their matches then combined for a No. 1 doubles win as the host Falcons improved to 5-3.

JP Descheneaux also won a singles match and teamed with Russell Berdusco for a doubles victory for Saint Stephen's.

ODA got singles wins from Vaughn Garcia and Jose Juncosa.

Girls tennis

SAINT STEPHEN'S 4, OUT-OF-DOOR ACADEMY 2 -- No. 2 singles player Elena Sava won a singles match in straight sets to lead the visiting Falcons (7-1) past the Thunder.

Danning Feng, Liyin Xu and Claudia Usubillaga also won singles matches for Saint Stephen's. Maria Ross and the doubles team of Savannah Jones and Charlotte Dixon won for ODA.

Boys lacrosse

OUT-OF-DOOR ACADEMY 15, SAINT STEPHEN'S 9 -- The host Thunder got five goals from Andrew Romano and three apiece from Ben Martin and Jeremy Herrin in a District 25 victory over the Falcons.

Girls lacrosse

SAINT STEPHEN'S 10, OUT-OF-DOOR ACADEMY 9 -- The visiting Falcons overcame a 6-1 halftime deficit and got the District 16 victory behind four goals from Baylee Barker and three from Emily Hiebner.

Grace Barnes, Merry Moore and Katie Pierce also scored for Saint Stephen's (2-0, 2-0). Kelsey Leskinen made 12 saves in goal.

The Thunder got three goals from Kimmy Comito, two apiece from Taylor Albano and Lexi Meyers and one apiece from Tess Siciliano and Abby Lagasse. Abby Bannar made 21 saves.
