Frankie Valli brings his hits to Sarasota

He'll perform some of the timeless hits of the Four Seasons at Van Wezel

March 6, 2014

It's a great time to be a Bradenton-area fan of the Four Seasons.

In February, the Hit Men, a group of session musicians who worked with the Four Seasons, played at Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall. The group included Gerry Polci, who sang lead on the Four Season's hit "Oh What a Night."

On March 30, the Midtown Men, the original stars of "The Jersey Boys" on Broadway, will be at Van Wezel.

And coming up Tuesday, is the man himself, Frankie Valli. He'll be at Van Wezel with the Four Seasons, though none of the other original members remain. They'll perform some of the group's songs that were radio staples in the pre-Beatles 1960s and stayed in play through the eras of disco, Southern rock and punk and well into the hip-hop years.

Even though he hasn't had a chart hit in a long time, Valli is touring as much as ever. The songs he made famous -- "Can't Take My Eyes Off You," "Walk Like a Man," "Grease" and the rest -- still resonate with audiences.

"These songs meant something to people. They've been a part of people's lives," Valli said. "So they'll still come to hear them when you come to town. We've been fortunate enough to have a lot of hits. We've had 65 records on the charts. So we don't really have to look much beyond that to put together a show."

Details: 8 p.m. March 10, Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall, 777 N. Tamiami Trail, Sarasota. Tickets: Sold out. Information: 941-953-3368,
