March 5, 2014

MANATEE -- The Manatee County Sheriff's Office reported a 35-year-old Palmetto man was robbed by his former girlfriend and another man about 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The victim told deputies his ex-girlfriend called and they met in downtown Bradenton near Main Street and Manatee Avenue and then went to Anna Maria Island where they talked about her children.

The victim said he gave the woman $300 on their way back to Bradenton but he "felt something was wrong" so he took the money back. The woman reportedly told the victim she was going to get someone to beat him up.

As they approached the 1700 block of 30th Avenue East in Bradenton the two reportedly began to struggle.

The victim said a man then rushed the vehicle so he got out and began to run west on 30th Avenue East. The victim said the man chased him down and told him to give me the money or he was going to hurt him. The victim gave the suspect the money.

The girlfriend and the man reportedly fled in the same vehicle. No one was hurt during this incident.
