MANATEE -- A 2-year-old girl and her 4-year-old brother escaped a tragic pool accident at 6:40 p.m. Tuesday, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

Parents and grandparents reportedly were on the pool deck less than 10 feet away watching over the children.

They told deputies they took their eyes away from the children for no more than a minute and noticed the girl was submerged in the pool.

The father immediately pulled her out and her mother performed CPR. EMS responded and took the girl to the hospital where she is in stable condition and expected to be released Wednesday.
