Hudson's Furniture hiring in Manatee County

March 4, 2014

BRADENTON -- Hudson's Furniture, a Florida furniture retailer, has begun hiring for its newest store in DeSoto Square Mall.

The family-owned and operated business is taking over space in the shuttered Dillard's Department store, which has been vacant since 2009.

The expansion and renovation of the 110,000-square-foot Furniture and Home Furnishings Retail Center began in January. Local workers were employed during the construction of the facility and there will be more than 30 permanent hires including managers, designer, sales associates, floor and display associates.

Founded in 1981, Hudson's has stores throughout Ormond Beach, Tampa Bay and Orlando.

"We are extremely excited to play a part in the revival of DeSoto Square Mall," said company president Josh Hudson. "We've signed a 10-year lease, so clearly we are committed to this community and our entire home state of Florida."

The Bradenton store is the chain's 17th and its largest to date. The retail center will feature new merchandise on the first floor. The second floor will house Hudson's largest clearance center.

"This is just a win-win situation," Hudson said. "Not only is it beneficial economically for the Bradenton community, but it's a terrific location with enormous potential for us. Customers are eager for a great furniture shopping experience and affordable prices, and we are happy we can fill this niche."
