Recap: Northern Colorado vs. Portland State

Greeley, CO (SportsNetwork.com) - Gary Winston scored 22 points and handed out seven assists as the Portland State Vikings secured a 77-68 win over the Northern Colorado Bears in Big Sky Conference play at Butler-Hancock Sports Pavilion.

Also scoring in double figures for the Vikings (14-13, 9-9 Big Sky), as they won for the third time in four games, were Tim Douglas and DaSahun Wiggins with 16 and 14 points, respectively. Kyle Richardson checked in with 10 rebounds and six points for the visitors.

UNC (16-11, 10-8) was led by Tate Unruh who tallied 22 points, while Jordan Wilson contributed 18 and Derrick Barden 10 points and a game-high 12 rebounds in the setback.

The Bears came out hot in the first half, leading by as many as 14 points barely eight minutes into the contest, but at the break the team was ahead by just five, 37-32, after shooting only 3-of-10 behind the 3-point line.

Portland State went from 42.9 percent accuracy through the first 20 minutes of action to a staggering 71.4 percent in the second half and never looked back.

The Vikings finished the night shooting an impressive 55.1 percent from the field, not to mention 15-of-19 at the free-throw line.
