Drivers caught on red-light cameras deserve tickets

March 2, 2014

The recent uproar over red-light cameras is ridiculous. I walk daily because I am unable to drive due to my medications. Consequently, I am very aware of my surroundings, especially careless drivers.

On a recent newscast on Channel 8 News, a study was cited saying there have been more accidents since the implementation of red-light cameras. If that is true, it is only because more people are being caught.

Being high tourist season is even worse because out-of-towners seem to think they own our city and our roads.

There are signs before the intersections that have these cameras in order to warn drivers. I don't know why, but if you don't or can't see these signs or outright ignore them anyway, you shouldn't be driving, in which case you deserve a ticket.
