Palmetto boy, 12, and his girlfriend missing

PALMETTO -- Authorities are searching for a 12-year-old Palmetto boy and his girlfriend, who they say have a history of running away from home.

Oscar De La Fuente's parents went to his room in their home in the 1000 block of 26th Street Court East to check on him around 9 a.m. Saturday and discovered he was not there, according to a Manatee County Sheriff's Office report. He was last seen around 9 p.m. Friday.

"Given the child's history of running away," they alerted the sheriff's office, the report stated.

Deputies were also sent to the home of his girlfriend, 12-year-old Adriana Guzman, in the 600 block of 26th Avenue West in Bradenton following a 911 hang-up, authorities said.

Once there, they confirmed Guzman was also missing.

"The two juveniles have a history of running away," the sheriff's report stated.

The homes and yards of both children were thoroughly searched, authorities added.
