Next Herald-SCF Community Conversation focusing on Manatee school district

March 1, 2014

Mark you calendars: The second in our ongoing series of Community Conversations will feature Julie Aranibar, chairwoman of the Manatee County school board; and the district's top three administrators: Superintendent Rick Mills; Diana Green, deputy superintendent of instructional services; and Don Hall, deputy superintendent of operations.

Presented by the Bradenton Herald and State College of Florida, these Community Conversations offer the public the opportunity to engage with community leaders.

With the school district soon to compose the 2013-2014 budget while recovering from the financial mismanagement under previous administrators, we expect broad public interest in this April 16 event.

Again, we invite the public to not only attend, but to send us your questions and concerns about the school district. We'll address as many of your questions as possible during the forum.

Please email those questions in advance to or send regular mail to Editorial Page Editor Chris Wille, 1111 Third Ave. W., Bradenton, FL 34205. And please include your name.

The free and open forum will be held from 6-7:30 p.m. April 16 at SCF's Howard Studio Theater, located on the college's Bradenton campus in Building 11 West, off 60th Avenue West between 26th and 34th streets, accessed from Parking Lot I. Details can be found at

The forum will be broadcast by Manatee Educational Television at later dates.

Bradenton Herald is pleased to provide this opportunity to share information, experiences and observations about what's in the news. Some of the comments may be reprinted elsewhere in the site or in the newspaper. We encourage lively, open debate on the issues of the day, and ask that you refrain from profanity, hate speech, personal comments and remarks that are off point. Thank you for taking the time to offer your thoughts.
