$50,000 in jewelry taken during Bradenton burglary

BRADENTON -- A Bradenton man reported more than $50,000 in jewelry stolen from his apartment while he was gone for a few hours Friday, according to a Manatee County Sheriff's Office report.

The victim left his apartment in the 4300 block of 53rd Avenue West around 8 a.m., according to the report. When he returned at noon, he noticed his $33,000 Hublot watch and $20,000 gold chain missing from his dresser.

The man called the sheriff's office and provided pictures of the stolen jewelry, authorities said.

Investigators found the back screen to the apartment's porch had been cut and the sliding glass door was unlocked, A cleaning crew had also been in the apartment for about five minutes while the victim was working out, the report states.

The investigation is still ongoing.
