Recap: Seton Hall vs. Providence

Newark, NJ (SportsNetwork.com) - Behind a game-high 24 points from Bryce Cotton, the Providence Friars outlasted the Seton Hall Pirates, 74-69, in Big East Conference action at the Prudential Center.

Cotton shot 6-of-12 from the field and 11-of-12 at the free-throw line for Providence (19-10, 9-7 Big East), which has won three of four. Kadeem Batts tallied a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds for the visitors, while LaDontae Henton and Tyler Harris netted 13 and 11 points, respectively.

For Seton Hall (14-15, 5-11), losers of three straight, Sterling Gibbs posted 20 points, Gene Teague registered 17 points and 12 boards, Jaren Sina had 11 points and Patrik Auda scored 10.

Providence shot 44.4 percent from the field in the first half, compared to only 36.7 percent for Seton Hall, but the Friars managed to take just a two- point lead into intermission, 28-26.

The Friars never surrendered their advantage in the second stanza, improving their field goal percentage to .519 while knocking down 17-of-23 at the free- throw line.

Providence made up for a poor showing from 3-point range (3-of-14) by winning the rebounding battle, 40-35.
