Ravens, Pitta reach 5-year deal

The Sports NetworkFebruary 28, 2014

Owings Mills, MD (SportsNetwork.com) - The Baltimore Ravens have locked up one of quarterback Joe Flacco's favorite targets as they reached a five-year deal with tight end Dennis Pitta on Friday.

The Baltimore Sun reported the deal is worth $32 million. The agreement comes three days before the Ravens would have had to utilize the franchise tag in order to keep Pitta from hitting the free-agent market.

Pitta, 28, missed a significant portion of last season while recovering from a fractured and dislocated right hip. He returned to make 20 grabs for 169 yards and one touchdown in the final four games.

In 2012, Pitta set career highs across the board with 61 receptions for 669 yards and seven touchdowns.
