El Paso, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - Shaquille Harrison led the way with 15 points as the Tulsa Golden Hurricane defeated the Texas-El Paso Miners, 65-60, in a Conference USA battle at the Don Haskins Center.
James Woodard chipped in 13 points for Tulsa (16-12, 11-3 C-USA) as it picked up its sixth consecutive victory overall and fourth straight road win. Rashad Smith contributed 11 points, while D'Andre Wright pulled down nine boards.
For the Miners (20-9, 10-4), John Bohannon registered a double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Julian Washburn added 14 points, while Vince Hunter tallied 12 points, six boards and two steals.
The Golden Hurricane took a 30-24 lead into the intermission after they made 42.3 percent of their field goal attempts and limited UTEP to 40.7 percent efficiency from the floor in the opening period. Tulsa scored 10 points off of turnovers in the first half to build its advantage.
Although the lead changed hands four times and the score was tied on three occasions in the second stanza, Tulsa stayed in front for the final 5:44 of the contest. The Golden Hurricane's bench outscored the Miners' reserves, 10-2, in the second period.
The Miners finished 0-of-8 from 3-point range. With the win, Tulsa is tied with Middle Tennessee, Louisiana Tech and Southern Miss for first in the C-USA standings with two games remaining in the regular season.
