Elon, NC (SportsNetwork.com) - Karl Cochran finished with 20 points and seven rebounds as the Wofford Terriers downed the Elon Phoenix, 63-59, in a Southern Conference bout at Alumni Gym.
Lee Skinner chipped in 17 points and seven boards for the Terriers (17-11, 11-4 SoCon).
Lucas Troutman paced Elon (18-12, 11-4) with 23 points, eight rebounds and four blocks. The loss snapped the Phoenix's eight-game winning streak.
Elon took a 26-22 lead into the intermission after it connected on 36 percent of its field goal tries and converted 8-of-10 attempts at the charity stripe in the first half. Wofford was limited to 22.7 percent efficiency from the floor, including a 1-of-9 clip from beyond the arc in the opening period.
The Terriers heated up after the break to sink 52.2 percent of their shots from the floor, including 6-of-10 from behind the 3-point line. Elon could not keep up as it was held to 39.1 percent shooting from the field in the second stanza. The contest was tied at 56 with just over a minute remaining before Wofford took control for good with a 5-0 run.
Despite the loss, Elon outscored the Terriers, 24-10, in the paint. The Phoenix's reserves contributed 21 points compared to just six by Wofford's bench.
