Bicyclist robbed in Bradenton

BRADENTON -- A bicyclist was robbed of his wallet and cell phone along 14th Street West early Thursday, according to Bradenton police.

About 2 a.m., the bicyclist was riding through the parking lot of the Bravo grocery store at 2000 14th St. W., when he was a approached by a silver Chrysler 300, police said.

Two men got out and one brandished a black handgun. They then demanded his wallet, which contained no cash, and cell phone, police said.

Suspects then fled the area in the car.

About 3:53 a.m., an officer stopped a silver Chrysler 300 on 14th Street West. The driver had a similar description as one provided by the victim, but police were unable to locate the victim. After a consensual search of the car, the driver was released, police said.
