Bradenton police investigate possible drive-by shooting

BRADENTON -- Police are investigating a drive-by shooting in Bradenton early Thursday.

About 2:30 a.m., Bradenton police say they received seven 911 calls about gunfire in the area of 26th Street West and Ninth Avenue West.

"Arriving officers were able to speak to numerous witnesses who heard the shots, heard vehicle accelerating from the area, but were unable to provide any descriptions," a report states.

Officers recovered five .40-caliber shell casings from the roadway on 26th Street West. They issued alerts to area hospitals and other law enforcement agencies, police said.

There were no reports of injuries or damage.
