Florida should protect water, don't fight against clean resource

February 27, 2014

This letter is in response to William E. Moore who recently wrote a letter that our Gov. Rick Scott and Attorney General Pam Bondi should not meddle with the Clean Water Act and I agree with him ("Florida wrong to meddle in Chesapeake Bay water fight," Feb. 23).

If one believes what happened in Kanawha County, West Va., when Freedom Industries polluted the main water source to 300,000 homes and businesses and it can't happen here, then you are living in Disney World.

Sad thing is the biggest polluters are the cruise line companies.

We are bulldozing down our fishing villages and building complexes that robs the wildlife of their home. Look what is happening in East Manatee.

We are losing our precious farmlands and waterways. These areas are where our food source comes from. We need to protect them for our wellbeing and for wildlife.

I say this: If one cannot protect our land, our waters and our children, they do not deserve our vote.
