GOLD 4, BLACK 3

Chris Diaz’s run-scoring single proved to be the difference in Team Gold’s 4-3 win over Team Black during the Pirates intrasquad game in front of 2,418 fans at McKechnie Field.

Tony Sanchez doubled and homered for Team Gold, and Andrew Lambo, the Pirates’ Minor League Player of the Year in 2013, went 1-for-2 with a single and a walk. He also scored the game-winning run.

The game raised $19,328 to benefit the Manatee Education Foundation, Wakeland Elementary School and G.D. Rogers Garden Elementary School.

STAR OF THE GAME

Sanchez, the Pirates’ first-round pick in 2009. His homer, a three-run shot, and double were each hit the opposite way.
